Formaldehyde Testing


CARB Regulation

PFS TECO is a leading certifier of composite wood products for the California formaldehyde emission law, known as the “CARB Regulation” in the wood products industry. Formerly operating as two companies: PFS Corporation (California TPC #3) and TECO (California TPC #7), the combined company works with mills all over the world. We offer:

  • Certification services for manufacturers
  • Consulting and testing for projects that lead to ULEF or NAF exemptions
  • Testing and assistance for renewals of ULEF or NAF exemptions
  • Testing and assistance for importers and fabricators to verify compliance of suppliers

National Formaldehyde Regulation

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is in the process of making rules to implement the Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act, and PFS TECO will be offering services for this regulation as soon as it is possible.


Testing

PFS TECO offers testing services to mills, importers and fabricator and consumers. Our two laboratories in Eugene, Oregon and Cottage Grove, Wisconsin offer:

  • ASTM E1333 large chamber
  • ASTM D6007 small chamber
  • ASTM D5582 and JIS A1460 desiccators
  • Evaluation of core wood composited contained in finished goods according to the specimen preparation protocolreleased by CARB. The preparation process is know in the industry as “deconstruction”.
